Location

Charleston Fishing Lodge is located on Goat Island, which is only accessible by boat. Goat Island is a small sea island with no bridge and no cars. The Charleston Fishing Lodge is an idyllic place to stay for those visiting Charleston with a preference for a unique island experience. We are a one minute boat ride to the isle of palms marina and 20 minutes by boat to downtown Charleston. The house located on the northern end of Goat Island and overlooks the Intercoastal Waterway.

The island is nestled between Isle of Palms and Mount Pleasant. There is no bridge to the island and therefore no cars. We are a 20-minute boat ride heading south to the Charleston Harbor, scenic Shem Creek and downtown Charleston. Heading north on the Intercoastal Waterway puts one in prime fishing and wildlife viewing areas. Dewees Island lies just up the coast followed by Capers and then Bull Island. Bulls Island is roughly 20 mins up the coast and is part of the Cape Romain Wildlife Refuge. CRWR is 65,000 acres of uninhabited natural wetlands prime for birding and recreational fishing.

About The Boats

The CFL has a small fleet of 3 boats which are perfect for any occasion. Whether you are a fly fisherman longing for redfish on the flats, a family hoping to get out into the creeks or an offshore fisherman longing for grouper we have the perfect boat to fit the bill. Our quiver of boats is perfect for the Charleston area. We are a stones throw away from world-class flats fishing for redfish and just minutes from Dewees Inlet and access to the Atlantic Ocean. Join us at CFL and “catch some memories, one fish at a time.”

We also have paddle boards and kayaks available on our dock.

We are proud to offer a full range of charter boats through our sister company Charleston Fishfinder.

Hells Bay 18′ Guide

Arguably one of the most well-known flats boats ever built. The Hells Bay can get shallow to elusive redfish and keep you dry and comfortable during your very short run to the flats. There is a world-class sight fishing for redfish within just a couple miles of the Charleston Fishing Lodge. This boat is perfect for up to 3 anglers plus the guide.

Windsor Anne

The first “bay boat” design constructed by Bill Kenner and heavily customized by Captain Ben Floyd. This boat is perfect for fishing the inshore creeks and inlets with larger groups up to 6 anglers. She has over 30 rod holders and a “cobia tower” with room for 2 folks upstairs.

Renegade

The Renegade is a 27′ Edey and Duff Conch center console. She is a great fishing boat when we want to venture offshore for fish lurking in the depths. This boat was designed to be the ultimate center console charter fishing boat. She has a pair of 2016 Yamaha 150hp four stroke outboard motors which push her along at a comfortable 30 mph cruise. This boat has 360 fishability. The Renegade has a famous smooth and dry ride to keep her passengers comfortable and safe. She has 27 rod holders which facilitate streamlined fishing and capacity for a rod rigged and ready for any situation that comes our way. This boat has a huge baitwell with a very large pump to keep tons of bait alive all day. She is decked out with top of the line Simrad electronics including Structure Scan 3D for the ultimate in fishfinding ability. A Simrad HS 60 antenna gives our GPS pinpoint accuracy which is most important when we need to be in exactly the right spot. There are 2 VHF radios on board connected to independent battery banks to ensure solid communication in the event of an emergency. This is very important in the unlikely event of an engine failure while offshore. If all else fails we keep a PLB (personal locator beacon) on board to call for rescue should things go wrong while we are fishing offshore.
